I’ve always loved having my hands speckled with paint on a cool day with my favorite Netflix show playing in the background doing DIY projects. Buying from the shelf can be nice, but I’ve always preferred making things with my hands. That’s why I love making DIY projects. I believe that home is a haven for yourself and your family. And making these DIY projects this Fall have really brightened up my living space and made me fall in love with these rooms. Here are my 5 DIY Fall Décor Ideas that you won’t want to miss.

Pumpkin Calligraphy

This is probably the easiest decoration, you’ll ever make. Simply grab a small to medium pumpkin and jot your favorite inspirational word. This season, I’ve written the word, “thankful” so that I can remember that even when things don’t go the way I need to always cherish the small gifts around me like when my husband washes the dishes or my dog greets me at the door.

Being thankful doesn’t mean you have everything you want, it means that you cherish what you have. Click To Tweet

Materials:

  • Pie Pumpkin
  • Tombow Calligraphy Pen (Trust me, it goes on smoothly and it’s worth it!)

Fall Wreath Project

My poor door was barren for the entire summer and I really wanted to spruce things up before winter rolled around so I rolled up my sleeves and pried myself away from the pre-made wreaths at Joanne’s and made this beautiful wreath from spare materials I had at home.

It took a while to make, but in total with my discounts and coupons, it was only $10.67!

Materials:

  • Artificial White Styrofoam Wreath from Joanne’s
  • Artificial sunflower bush from Joanne’s Fabrics
  • Autumn Heather Onion Grass
  • Glue gun
  • Burlap
  • Scissors
  • Thick Twine

Cute Halloween Door Hanger

This is perfect for a Halloween DIY project or creating a fun craft with your kids.

Materials:

  • B-O-O in wooden letters from Joanne’s
  • Orange Ribbon
  • Black paint
  • Spray adhesive ( to adhere glitter)
  • Black glitter

Cozy Reading Mantel Décor

My husband calls me bookish, but I’ve never really found offense to that. I love reading books and collecting books is a hobby for my husband and I. The cool thing about thrift stores is that you’ll never know what you’ll find and books are plentiful. Everything on this hanging shelf was found in a thrift store or garage sale. The only thing bought new from the store is the shelf itself. Something beautiful can come from things that are used and old and I love creating a new life from things that are forgotten.

DIY Hanging Inspirational Quotes

Others might not know this about me, but during high school and into my adult years I’ve struggled with on and off depression. Thankfully, I have amazing friends, family, and faith in something bigger than me that has helped me cope with my feelings.

Because of this, I’ve decided to return to posting verses and inspirational quotes around my wall and adding a little glitter to the mix.

Materials:

  • 3m hangers
  • Whitelines Notebook paper
  • Inspirational quote or verse
  • Tombow Calligraphy pen
  • Rustoleum Spray Paint Metallic Gold
  • Binder Clips

Conclusion

Do you have a memory of making a craft or project growing up? Even if you don’t like DIY projects, I think you can agree that learning something new takes time but it is well worth the effort in the end. Tell me about what you do in your house to make things feel special!
